Bridleways Update

Just wanted to let you all know that I had written to our regional Bridleways Officer for the BHS Karen Hinckley asking for an update on the situation locally. She has sent me this reply:

In answer to your questions:

If there are BOAT applications on any of these lanes ( and last time I looked I think they all but the last had applications on them) they will be shown on the Derbyshire County Council website under Recreation and Leisure, Countryside, Access, Rights of Way, Applications and then by parish and you can keep an eye on them. Progress is slow on these but Dobbs Lane ( a Restricted Byway) is coming up this month and is due to be rejected outright under the Winchester judgement. This means that the only motorvehicles allowed on it will be those of the landowner and all other users will be acting illegally.

The last route you mention, I think, is one I have already mentioned to DCC Rights of Way Gill Millward as there is a mistake on the Definitve Map and it is essentailly 'landlocked' and so unusable. It may take some unravelling as it is dependent on finding old planning regulations and this will not be easy. Rights of Way work is notoriously slow.

I hope this is some help.

Do let me know if you have any further queries following this update.
